When you think of a person in their 20′, what picture comes to your mind? Some people say that it is a time to live up, have a lot of fun and enjoy. Others say that this is the time where you should work as hard as possible and create a strong foundation for your future success. I see this time of your life as a starting point to any of your achievements, as a big send out to life where results and your future is in your hands.
Being in your 20’ is a time to adopt certain habits which will stick with you since you are more flexible now than 20 years later I think. Don’t worry about your past or your present situation; you are in a suitable position to figure out what it is you want and go after it with all your heart. You are young, passionate and full of energy. It’s time to act.
Do something today what will benefit you for a long run and create the right support in every area of your life. Here are 5 things you should learn and adopt in your 20’ to start off with the right attitude and determination.
1. Work, work, work, work, work.
If you don’t work hard now, then when? In your 50’? As I mentioned above, some people say that 20’ is time for fun and enjoying yourself. I must disagree. Of course, there must be some fun in your life but think about it. If you build something now, you put everything into it, all your focus and energy, and create basics many people don’t have.
No matter how much you want to go around it, hard work is one of the most important attributes of your success. Action, hustle, execution, dedication. These are things you should do over and over and over again because creating a habit doesn’t take even a month. What you utilize today will follow you in many years ahead.
2. Knowledge is growth
If you just got out of school, now is time to learn. Learning is growth, and it should be on your schedule every single day, no matter the weekend, vacation, etc. You can learn by experience or reading or listening. Absorb as much information as possible since knowledge makes you humble person and destroys ignorance.
The minimum limit for daily reading should be about 30 minutes or 10 pages of a book. Since some people don’t like to read, a power of technology gave us audiobooks so no excuses. Whether you learn about yourself or your passion or dream, it doesn’t matter as long as you seek new information and expand your potential on a constant basis.
3. Struggle is your strength
I want to point this one out since it isn’t some practical advice, but certainly something you need to know and understand. The struggle will be part of your life from time to time. There are going to be times when things hit the fan, and you may fall. As soon as you understand that struggle is part of the process and it is here to make you stronger and braver, you will handle temporary defeat like a pro.
Every failure in your life is never the opposite of success but its part. I have been raised with the mindset that failure is bad and I should avoid it. This is such a silly concept and untrue. Many people want to avoid failure, and that’s why they avoid success. From now on, remember that falling is learning and a great experience you can build on. Go all in!
4. Commitment should be your second name
You don’t have to have a lot of money for your big start, you don’t have to be the most talented in the room, but if you are committed, you can beat any obstacles you’ll face. Commitment is a very powerful personal tool, and once it is in your heart, you become unstoppable.
Now is time to commit yourself fully, now is time to get in the game with all you have gotten. If you are still thinking about this new club around the corner, either stop thinking about it or close this article because it isn’t for you. Commitment means 100% of you; it means constant, non-stop action and progress with rewards worth of everything.
5. Go BIG on personal development
Read, learn, get to know yourself. What is your passion, your vision, what do you want and who you are? Some people go a lifetime without answering these questions and often end up unhappy, just rambling around. Build up your confidence, your self-esteem so you can act with certainty and create respect for yourself. Create your image of humble, yet the confident individual who knows what he/she wants.
Everything starts with your mind, every action, move, belief or faith. Build your mindset by seeking inspiration. Go once a year to an event which focuses on personal development and hang out with like-minded people. Since I have started blogging and became the part of this community of individuals who share the same interest, energy is just flowing, and they inspire me every day.
You must take care of yourself and your spiritual part. Since in 20’ we are still pretty young and often confused, interest in self-development and learning will give you more answers and show you the right direction. You’ll know better what you want and who you are. Remember, the time is now. Not tomorrow, NOW!
