“For everyone, well-being is a journey. The secret is committing to that journey and taking those first steps with hope and belief in yourself.” Deepak Chopra
Often I look around and see people chasing all those “good stuff” like money, power, success or prestige. Then I scratch my head since I don’t see them being too euphoric about their lives and ask myself; “What is the catch? What do we truly want? Do you think we can’t have it all or is it a matter of balance in life?”
Recently, I was listening to an audiobook Thrive from Arianna Huffington which made me consider about this big thing we all want which is SUCCESS. I have noticed that more of us are coming to realize that power and money are not what truly make us successful. You can have the highest position in the company, managing and bossing around tens or hundreds of people, get a fat paycheck at the end of the month, but if you are not feeling truly happy inside, you’re dead.
One thing you must realize is that as long as you don’t feel balance and happiness inside, it’s going to be tough to create fulfilled life. Maybe for a short run, money and power will substitute the feeling of satisfaction, but for life, it isn’t enough.
Since I am trying to open myself this new definition of success which is well-being and inner abundance, here are 4 ways which I have tried and they truly brought more peace and balance into my life.
1. Forget the money
We all want money. Well, that’s what we think we all want, but money doesn’t mean anything. Our desire for money is what it represents as freedom, choice in life, helping those who have less. Each of these aspects is closely connected with well-being and spiritual abundance.
Don’t get me wrong. I also want success and money in my life as much as you do. I don’t live on the air and meditate 24/7. But I also know that being 100% happy must start within so we can create abundance in every area of our lives, not just seek materialistic stuff.
2. Sharing is caring
Helping others is without a question, one of the most rewarding feelings which creates inner abundance and balance. Nothing in this world will improve your well-being more as the privilege, the opportunity to help. It doesn’t matter whether it is your time, your kind words, financial help or any other attribute. The only question to ask yourself is; “what difference am I making in someone else’s life?”
Caring about others will fill you up each and every time, it will make you happier and more positive individual. Knowing that you can make a difference is a big deal.
3. Your happiness matters first
As selfish as it sounds, thinks about it. How can you give others the best of yourself and be the benefit to any community if you feel miserable or unhappy? Promise yourself one thing which is never expecting someone else to make you happy. Expecting others to create happiness in our life is one of the biggest misconceptions we have adopted. We tend to go into relationships; we go into marriages expecting the other person does the job which is merely our responsibility.
Choose what you want, do the best for yourself and create the abundance of happiness within you first. Once you balance yourself, you are going to have more than enough energy and positivity to share it with others and be this great, kind and loving person everyone wants to be around.
4. Build up your confidence
How much do you believe in yourself? What do you see when you look into a mirror? Are you struggling to see yourself as “good enough”? Then get up and make changes about your self-image immediately. You are worth. You are unique. If anyone is telling you otherwise, punch them in the face and walk away.
For us to be mentally balanced and happy in everyday life, we must have a healthy self-esteem. It is one of the first steps towards building an abundance in every area of life. The second step is to be humble enough never to look down on others. No one here is better or worse since we all have the same potential to expand our lives.
