If there is one thing which can destroy one’s future and eliminate any hope or belief for a better life, it is self-doubt. Self-doubt is like the invisible little robber who gets into your head and spread the poison all over the place if you let it. And here comes the catch. You decide whether you accept it, or fight it.
Just recently I went through some difficulties and got pretty discouraged by not seeing results I wanted. I found myself being less productive, more frustrated and out of place. One day I was standing outside, waiting for an Uber and suddenly it clicked in my head. Because of the disempowering thoughts which were running my mind, I was sabotaging any positive outcome in my life. Self-doubt took over my mind, and I questioned everything.
I understand if you are going through it, we all experience doubt in life. The important thing is to understand that you must work your mind and direct your focus on your goals. Here are 4 ways how to beat self-doubt and become invincible.
1. Become aware of your thoughts
As the first step in becoming doubt free, you must become aware of your thoughts. We all doubt ourselves from time to time because of some moment of weakness or mix of emotions. You must catch this moment and don’t let it get into your head too much. Every once in a while think how you talk to yourself. What thoughts predominate your mind? If you feel sad, how long do you tend to feel this way?
Getting to know your mind is one of the most powerful and rewarding knowledge you can have. Make time for yourself and recap your day or a week, remember how you felt or what was going through your mind. Think of moments which excited you or make you feel good and recap this particular feeling. Become aware of yourself.
2. Once you catch it, deal with it
Once you learn how to listen to your mind and become conscious of what is actually happening, work with it and switch from negative frequency to positive frequency. Find what can bring you the feeling of strength and courage to kill your self-doubt. Do you enjoy watching some powerful, energy driven motivational video? Maybe spending some time at the gym to boost up your motivation. The important thing is to put your mind to work and think on a level which empowers you and not the opposite.
The second cause of your self-doubt may be a person around you who try to put you down and discourage you. If you have this individual in your life, walk away. Never compromise or deal with people who cause you pain. No excuses, no second chances. Don’t allow anyone to dump trash in your head because it many cases this is a cause of people doubting themselves.
3. Build your self-esteem
How much time do you spend appreciating yourself? How often do you tap yourself on a shoulder and recognize your accomplishments? You don’t have to wait for someone else to do it for you. Take charge and raise your confidence.
If you want to have a healthy self-esteem, you must work. You must work with your mind, with your thoughts. Use your strength and courage, decide to achieve what you truly dream of and become unstoppable. Your mind is the power, and your thoughts create reality. If you think of yourself as an unbeatable winner, you will become one.
