“Alone time is when I distance myself from the voices of the world so I can hear my own.” Oprah

Have you ever heard people say, “ I can’t believe that July has passed, and it’s already August.” Time goes by so fast; we don’t even realize it. We get caught up at work, dealing with daily responsibilities, taking care of children or building the business of our dreams. We get distracted, and we forget to pay attention to the most important part, US.

In the past, I considered myself as the last thing to take care of.  I thought that if I can’t complete a million tasks a day, my life will apparently fall apart. As a result, my outcome sucked. Based on my results, I knew that only change in my daily routine could help.  The first thing on the list was me. Not because I am an egoist, but think about it. If you are exhausted, unhappy or frustrated every day, how can you deliver the best to your family, your colleges or your employees?

I have listed for you 3 reasons why spending time alone and interacting with your feelings is crucial for a better life.

1. Time alone gives you space to love yourself more

When you are alone, you get the chance to think about everything you have accomplished in a day, for the past week or a month. You see it clearly and feel appreciation towards yourself. This activity is what raises your confidence and upscales your beliefs.

Of course, it is important to be surrounded by people who love you, but you should be able to love yourself first. Time alone gives you the opportunity to see the good in yourself and the greatness you have within.

2. Alone time is essential for self-control

Have you ever snap at someone and later regretted your approach? Did you feel guilty and confused why you even reacted this way?  Time alone will help you to think about your actions and find the weak spots in your behavior so you can correct them in the future.

I always thought I am the person with a temper. I reacted based on the picture I had about myself. Time alone helped me to understand that this isn’t who I want to be, and it gave me the opportunity to take control.

3. Being alone is a great time to clear your head from external distractions

Throughout the day, we deal with many people and circumstances. Some of them are positive, some negative. Especially the unpleasant experience can stick inside of your head and bother you for days or even weeks. Maybe someone at your job gossiped about you, and it hurt your feelings. If you let it pass by, you’ll never resolve it within yourself. Time alone will help you recap the situation and ensure yourself that you are a valuable, honest and loyal person.

This was only an example but time alone is crucial in resolving your inner conflicts, especially situations where you get emotionally involve.

Conclusion

The best advice I can give you is to see yourself as a priority. When you feel good, satisfy and happy, you have more energy and enthusiasm to help others around you and spread positive vibes. Give yourself some time to organize your thoughts and think of the next steps you want to take toward your happiness.

  1. So true sometimes we have to sit with being uncomfortable in order to recognize what is going on within us to be able to make ourselves a priority. :)
